The Brughiera di Specchiulla is one of the many characteristic coves along the Adriatic coast of Salento where real natural open-air pools are surrounded by green vegetation and stretches of unspoilt beaches. We are in Conca Specchiulla, a few kilometres north of Otranto, and this beautiful inlet retains that wild aspect where the various coves represent corners of paradise lost in time. The high rocky ridges characterise part of the Specchiulla Heath, here the environment blends with the green of the pine forests, the grey and black of the cliffs, the white of the soft beaches and above all the unchallenged and limpid blue of a marvellous sea; an explosion of colours therefore for those who decide to spend part of their time in this natural environment of rare beauty where silence and absolute relaxation reign. It will not be difficult then, once you get to this bay, to choose an inviting corner where you can plant your sunshade and relax while leafing through your favourite magazine with a cool drink to soothe the summer heat. The sea is shallow for long stretches, making it ideal for families with children. There is a relaxing air here, and even if we are in high season, the place retains its characteristic solitude, offering moments of a holiday away from the daily hustle and bustle to which we are now accustomed.
