Spiaggia delle Isole Asce

San Foca - Melendugno

The Spiaggia delle Isole Asce (Beach of the Asce Islands) is a fabulous stretch of free beach located in San Foca, a small marina in the municipality of Melendugno on the eastern side of the Salento peninsula, washed by the waters of the Adriatic Sea. This stretch of coastline presents typical characteristics of a naturalistic beach immersed in the green of the Mediterranean maquis that grows wild here almost as if to mark the typicality of the surrounding area. The Spiaggia delle Isole Asce (Beach of the Asce Islands) has a number of points where the low cliffs stand out, and is easy to walk on, simply by putting on a pair of rock shoes. The water is impressively clear, and even during the summer heat, bathing in these beautiful waters is a regenerating cure-all, as some of the freshwater springs in the area give it an unusual freshness. The place is characterised by its wild and solitary nature, and perhaps this aspect distinguishes its beauty and is much appreciated by the many tourists who every summer decide to drop by the Spiaggia delle Isole Asce to spend a few hours relaxing and carefree. The sea is shallow at the beginning and is ideal for families with children; for snorkelling enthusiasts, the beautiful seabed lends itself marvellously to being visited with the beautiful play of light that is created between the various recesses of the reefs. The beach can be accessed directly from the provincial road through a thick area of scrub; the only drawback is the car park, which is not easy to find if you are in high season; otherwise, have a good holiday at San Foca.
