The free beach of Punta Prosciutto is a succession of colors, high dunes and many positive feelings. The free beach covers so much of the bay that the equipped lidos seem like little meteors scattered here and there. Walking the entire length of the beach can be quite tiring but it is worth it. The ban on climbing the dunes in recent years has caused them to grow more luxuriant in vegetation as well as appearing taller, so the spectacle they offer, in my opinion, is unmatched by any other place in Salento. Until about twenty years ago this area was practically deserted and little known, appreciated only by the locals, with the advent of the internet and global tourism this stretch of coast has exploded with a growing tourist demand making Punta Prosciutto become one of the most popular destinations in Salento. The sea constitutes the icing on the cake, crystal clear, crystal clear, it is tinged with different shades ranging from blue to green depending on the time of day and viewpoints. If you come on vacation to Salento, remember to spend at least a day in Punta Prosciutto!
