This is not a classic sandy beach: come for the low rocky shore, clear and often surprisingly cool water, swimming from the rocks and snorkelling on the Ionian stretch between Punta Pizzo and Mancaversa.
Choose this coastline knowingly: rock instead of sand, less convenient access, few services directly at the spot and a sea that rewards confident swimmers and snorkellers.
Posto Li Sorci is mainly a rocky stretch of coast. Visitors settle on the rocks and natural flat areas rather than on a broad sandy shore.
If you want fine sand, a gentle water entry and beach-club comfort, this is not the easiest option.
Along the Punta Pizzo coastal sector there are documented outcrops of the shallow aquifer and springs flowing directly into the sea. This helps explain the distinctly cooler patches of water long associated with Posto Li Sorci.
Temperature can change within a short distance: enter gradually, especially after spending a long time in the sun.
Posto Li Sorci lies on the Ionian coast between Mancaversa and Punta Pizzo. From inland, the SP289 Taviano–Posto Li Sorci road is one useful reference, linking with roads towards Mancaversa; once near the coast you need to identify a suitable rocky-shore access and continue on foot.

The historic archive mentioned roadside parking, but it would be misleading to promise free or always-available spaces today. In summer it depends on the exact stretch, signs and permitted areas; nearby businesses may have parking linked to their own services.
Park only where permitted and never narrow the carriageway or block access. Arriving early helps in July and August.
The seabed is mainly rocky, with hollows and passages that vary from one entry point to another. It does not offer the even progression of a sandy beach and in some places the water may deepen more quickly.
Water shoes are recommended. Always check depth and obstacles before jumping; never assume a jump is safe because someone else is doing it.
We found no verified step-free or equipped access directly at Posto Li Sorci. The final approach is over natural ground and rock, with uneven and potentially slippery surfaces.
For wheelchairs, pushchairs or reduced mobility, choose a verified equipped bathing access before setting out.
Families used to rocky shores may enjoy it, but it is less convenient with very young children: there is no broad sandy beach, entry is rocky and the seabed is not uniformly shallow.
Choose calm sea, an easy entry point and stay close; wet rock can be slippery.
On the free rocky stretch, do not rely on showers, toilets or a bar beside your towel. A short distance north in Località Pizzo there is a seasonal equipped venue with bar, restaurant, parasols, loungers and evening entertainment.
Bring your own water anyway. Opening hours, access to services and availability can change during the season.
The rocky coast, often clear water and small indentations make Posto Li Sorci appealing for mask and snorkel. It is more about swimming and exploring the seabed than classic beach life.
Mask, snorkel and water shoes. Use fins only if you are comfortable with them and the sea is calm.
For friends and young visitors who enjoy swimming, sitting on the rocks and staying until sunset, this is an attractive stretch. Nearby seasonal venues can make late afternoon livelier with aperitifs and events.
It suits people seeking sea and rocks more than all-day comfort under a parasol.
Posto Li Sorci has historically attracted people trying to avoid Gallipoli’s biggest crowded beaches. That does not guarantee solitude: in midsummer and at weekends the easiest access points can fill up.
Early morning gives more choice; late afternoon gives the best sunset light, while remembering the return over the rocks.
On a rocky coast, sea conditions matter greatly: waves and backwash can make both entry and especially getting out of the water difficult.
If waves are pushing against the rocks, skip that entry point and look for a more sheltered alternative.
On 19 July 2026 a 73-year-old man died after a medical emergency shortly after entering the water at Li Sorci during a day of intense heat. The episode does not indicate a specific water-quality danger, but it is a concrete reminder to be cautious on very hot days.
Avoid the harshest hours, stay hydrated and cool down gradually before swimming, particularly if you are older or have cardiovascular conditions.
Water shoes, drinking water, sunscreen, a hat, towel or mat, mask and snorkel are the most useful items. Natural shade is not guaranteed on the free rocky stretch.
Bring a bag for your rubbish too: this coast lies within a protected natural landscape.
People who enjoy low rocky shores, swimming, snorkelling, cool water, Ionian sunsets and a less urban setting than central Gallipoli beaches.
A strong choice if your main aim is to spend time in the water and enjoy a natural coastline.
Anyone wanting sand, a uniformly shallow seabed, verified barrier-free access, easy pushchair use, guaranteed shade or every service beside the towel.
If these are priorities, choose a sandy beach or an equipped beach establishment nearby.
Check the point on the map and use “Take me there” to reach the coast between Mancaversa and Punta Pizzo. On the final metres, always check actual access and signs.
