A mainly rocky sea access along Marina di Marittima’s indented coast: deeper water at several points, water shoes recommended, and good swimming and snorkelling when the Adriatic is calm.
Porticelli is not a normal sandy beach but a small inlet on Marina di Marittima’s rocky coast. The descent is relatively straightforward compared with other local spots, although the last metres and sea entry remain rocky and depth can increase quickly.
The Municipality of Diso lists Porticelli among Marina di Marittima’s small inlets. The shore is mainly rock, with natural platforms and recesses descending to the sea.
A thick towel or mat is more useful than equipment intended for a sandy beach.
Local sources describe Porticelli as one of the easier rocky descents in the area.
Check the final approach in person and wear stable footwear; nearby beach-club walkways are private services, not guaranteed public access.
The seabed follows the cliffs, with rock, crevices and deeper sectors close to shore. It is not correct to say it becomes deep immediately everywhere, but this is not a uniformly shallow seabed.
Check depth and footholds at your chosen point; water shoes are recommended.
Porticelli can suit families used to rocky shores, but it does not offer the simplicity of a sandy beach with gradual entry. Space, footholds and variable depth require more attention.
For an easier day choose a more gradual access; here stay close to children at all times.
In calm conditions the cove is pleasant for swimming, but anyone entering from rock should remember exactly where they can get out. Waves and wind can make the return harder.
Do not swim far from the exit if you do not know the area or sea conditions are changing.
Rock, fissures, changing depth and clear water on calm days make this an interesting mask-and-snorkel area. The seabed is more varied than a fully sandy beach.
Stay near shore, wear water shoes and avoid narrow cavities or passages you do not know.
Some swimmers jump from the rocks, but depth and submerged rock vary from point to point.
Personally check depth, seabed, waves and people before any jump.
Porticelli is far easier in calm sea. When waves hit the rocks, entry and especially exit can become difficult even for strong swimmers.
Watch the sea for a few minutes and turn back if waves are strongly reaching the exit footholds.
Porticelli is along the coast road and private properties and businesses are nearby, but we found no institutional source guaranteeing a dedicated public car park for the cove.
Arrive early, follow current signs and do not block private entrances, the road or vegetation.
Lido Ficò operates in the area with green areas, a bar and sea access. These are private services and should not be confused with public facilities belonging to Porticelli Beach.
Bring water and essentials; showers, loungers and equipped access belong to the private business and may have its own hours and charges.
The Municipality describes nearby Acquaviva as accessible, but that information cannot automatically be transferred to Porticelli. We found no confirmation of a public boardwalk, hoist or assisted bathing here.
Check a specifically equipped access before travelling and do not rely on Acquaviva’s status.
Marina di Marittima is less oriented to mass beach tourism than the large sandy resorts, but Porticelli also has private businesses and is known to visitors. Useful rock space can fill in August.
Early morning or late afternoon usually offers more choice.
Porticelli sits in Marina di Marittima’s landscape of rock, small inlets and Mediterranean vegetation. Respect the shore by avoiding litter and unnecessary trampling.
Take rubbish away and use existing access routes.
Research published in July 2026 reports a small ancient stone-millstone extraction area at Porticelli, with a few pits, circular cut marks and stone debris; the cut discs are about 60 cm across.
Do not scratch, move or remove stone: the traces are part of the coastal heritage.
From late 2025 into 2026 Diso took part in consultation on the proposed “Capo d’Otranto – Grotte Zinzulusa e Romanelli – Capo di Leuca” Marine Protected Area. We do not present it as already established. In 2026 the Porticelli millstone quarry was also publicly documented.
Protection rules may evolve, so check for new provisions before marine activities.
Confident swimmers, couples, teenagers and families used to rocks, snorkellers and visitors who prefer a compact rocky coast to large sandy beaches.

Anyone wanting sand, uniformly shallow water, lots of play space, guaranteed parking, public facilities directly on site or verified barrier-free sea access.
For greater convenience choose an equipped cove or a beach with easier entry.
Water shoes, thick towel or mat, water, sun protection, mask and snorkel. Secure sandals or light shoes are also useful for the final land section.
Water shoes and drinking water make the biggest difference on this rocky shore.
