Free public beach, sand and dunes
Punta Prosciutto is mainly a fine-sand beach. Long stretches of shoreline are free public beach, with a number of beach clubs along the coast. Behind the beach lies the dune system, one of the area’s most recognisable natural features.

On the free sections, arrive prepared with what you need; cross the dunes only at the existing access points.
Sea and seabed
The seabed is mainly sandy and in many places remains shallow for several metres before deepening gradually. This is appreciated by visitors who prefer to enter the water without immediately reaching greater depths.

Shallow water does not mean the sea is always safe: wind, waves and currents can change conditions.

Families and children
Fine sand, a generally gradual entry into the water and plenty of space make Punta Prosciutto popular with families. On the free sections, however, consider the distance from services and the need to bring everything required for several hours in the sun.

Parking and access
In July and August it can be difficult to find a space near the access points, especially around the middle of the day. When free parking is unavailable, several beach clubs allow visitors to leave their car in their parking areas.

As a practical guide, expect roughly €5–7 per day, with prices varying. Arriving early helps a lot.
Bars, toilets and services
Services are not distributed evenly along the entire beach. Bars, refreshments, toilets, parasols and sun loungers are mainly found near the beach clubs. On more distant free sections, it is better to bring water and anything else you need before settling down.

Crowds and the best time to go
Punta Prosciutto is one of the busiest beaches in the area during high season. Crowds increase greatly in July and especially during the middle weeks of August. Early morning is the most practical time to find parking and choose where to settle.

It is particularly suitable for families with children, people who enjoy large sandy beaches, visitors who prefer generally shallow water and anyone wanting to spend the whole day by the sea in a landscape of dunes and natural coastline.

It may be less suitable for anyone looking for complete peace and quiet in July and August, natural shade, guaranteed parking a few metres from the sand or a small sheltered cove. At peak times you need to accept larger crowds and some walking.

If tranquillity is your priority, avoid the middle of the day and the busiest weeks.
What to bring
On the free sections, bring a parasol or other sun protection, plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat and something to eat if you settle far from the beach clubs. It is also better to choose equipment that is easy to carry from the parking area.

Water shoes are not normally necessary on this sandy beach.
