The coast and sea
The resort faces a mainly rocky stretch of coast. Low natural platforms alternate with inlets and sea access points, and the seabed can become deeper quite quickly.
Before entering the water, assess wind, waves, currents and the condition of the rocks, especially at unserviced access points.
The coastal tower
Torre Inserraglio formed part of the watch system built along the Salento coast to communicate quickly when dangers were seen approaching from the sea.
The Municipality of Nardò lists Torre Inserraglio among the towers marking the seven kilometres of Porto Selvaggio park coastline, together with Torre Uluzzo and Torre dell’Alto.
The protected landscape
The area lies beside the Porto Selvaggio e Palude del Capitano Regional Natural Park, a system of pine woods, Mediterranean scrub, cliffs, wetlands and sites of archaeological interest.
Visitors should respect access routes, vegetation and the rules applying to protected areas.
