The beach of Lido Marini
The regional source describes a beach more than two kilometres long, almost entirely sandy, with fine sand and shallow water.
Easily accessible low rocks interrupt the beach in a few places, while free stretches alternate with private beach activities.
Punta del Macolone and the springs
South of the built-up area lies Punta del Macolone, where the coast becomes rockier.
Freshwater springs emerge along this stretch and can make the seawater suddenly feel cooler.
The Sponderati Sud basin
To the north, between Lido Marini and Torre Mozza, a broad sandy area opens up.
Behind the beach are wet grounds and the Sponderati Sud drainage basin, part of the coastal landscape of Ugento.
