Lovers Beach or Li Foggi at Punta della Suina, Gallipoli, Apulia
Apulia · Salento · Gallipoli · Punta della Suina · Li Foggi

Lovers Beach

Also known as Li Foggi, this is a free beach in the Regional Natural Park of Sant’Andrea Island and Punta Pizzo coast, south of Gallipoli. Sand, small rocky sections, pinewood and Mediterranean scrub create a natural setting for self-sufficient families, couples and young visitors seeking swimming, snorkelling and sunset.

Lovers Beach: what to know before you go

The old Salentissimo description portrayed an almost solitary place. We keep its natural character, but do not promise quiet in peak summer and carefully distinguish services, parking, accessibility and safety.

Free beach with sand, low dunes and rocky edges

Lovers Beach, also known as Li Foggi, is a free stretch within the protected Punta Pizzo landscape. Light sand and Mediterranean vegetation dominate, with rocky edges in places.

Practical tip

Do not confuse it with the nearby Punta della Suina beach club: this is a more natural experience with fewer services.

Seabed: gentler on sandy sections, different near rocks

On sandy parts the entry can be gradual, while near rocks depth and seabed change. Clear water makes it attractive for swimming and looking at the seabed.

Practical tip

With children, choose the sandy section and check the day’s seabed before moving away from shore.

Families: yes, but this is a natural beach

In calm sea the sandy area can work well for families. There are fewer comforts than at a beach club and we have not verified lifeguard coverage for this exact stretch.

With children

Bring shade, water and a hat, supervise closely and check on-site signs for any lifeguard service.

Young visitors: sea, snorkelling, nature and sunset

Good for an informal day between sea and pinewood, without a beach-club atmosphere. Snorkelling, walking and sunset are the main attractions.

Good to know

For bars, music and nightlife, move towards Gallipoli or serviced areas.

Parking: arrive early in summer

Gallipoli municipality created and regulated public parking areas for July–September 2026. Spaces around Li Foggi can fill quickly on busy days.

Practical tip

Follow signs, use authorised areas only and never park on dunes, scrub or service access.

Natural access through the park landscape

The beach is reached from the Li Foggi/Punta della Suina area via sandy and pinewood paths. The natural surface is not uniform.

Practical tip

Light shoes help on the approach; stay on existing paths to protect dunes and vegetation.

Accessibility: municipal action exists, but no verified step-free route here

In 2026 Gallipoli supported accessibility measures for free bathing areas, but we found no certification guaranteeing an accessible route to the water at this exact beach.

Check first

For specific needs, contact the municipality or choose an explicitly equipped access point.

Limited direct services: bring what you need

This is a free natural stretch. Do not plan on a bar, showers, toilets or umbrella rental being immediately available.

Bring

Water, sun protection, food, towel, rubbish bag and simple snorkelling gear.

Ionian coast: check wind and waves first

The western coast can change significantly with wind and rough sea. A gentle-looking entry on a calm day can become more demanding with waves and undertow.

Safety

Observe conditions before entering and never assume the romantic name means the sea is always calm.

You are in a natural park: protect dunes, pinewood and scrub

Li Foggi lies in the Regional Natural Park of Sant’Andrea Island and Punta Pizzo coast, with Mediterranean scrub, wetlands and coastal habitats.

Simple rule

Use paths, avoid trampling dunes, leave no rubbish and do not remove sand or plants.

Recommended for

Couples, self-sufficient families, relaxed young people, nature lovers, swimmers and snorkellers.

Strong point

A free beach with a more natural feel than Gallipoli’s serviced areas.

What to bring

Water, hat, sunscreen, permitted portable shade, towel, light shoes for the path, mask and a bag for rubbish.

Essential

Bring what matters but travel light.

Where Lovers Beach is

The pin has been checked against the Lovers Beach/Li Foggi location and is not the nearby Punta della Suina beach club. It marks the free-beach area; the actual parking point may vary.
