Torre Mozza Tower

Historic coastal tower at Ugento’s marina, also recorded as Torre Fiumicelli/Torre dei Fiumi; the structure still shows the losses and collapses behind the name Torre Mozza.

The tower is very close to the village and sea and is easy to view externally. Interior access is not assumed: check for openings or works before approaching the structure.

The monument stands beside Torre Mozza’s sandy coast and coastal basins; visiting the tower and spending time on the beach are nearby but distinct experiences.

A good short stop during a village walk. With children, do not climb masonry, ruins or unprotected parts; use normal beach access for swimming.

Use parking in Torre Mozza itself. In high season arrive early or consider Ugento’s seasonal public transport.

Bars, shops and services are in the small resort; the tower should not be treated as a museum that is always open.

The urban setting makes it easy to get nearby, but accessibility of the historic structure and any interior is not guaranteed.

This is a damaged historic structure: do not climb masonry and respect any barriers. For the sea, use proper beach access rather than the monument’s edges.

The resort is busy in summer. Torre Mozza is among Ugento’s 2026 Blue Flag coastal areas, while Italy’s geographic institute still identifies the structure as a ruined tower by the sea.
