Punta della Suina: what to know before you go
The beauty is obvious, but the day works better if you know in advance that this is not one large all-sand beach: the coves are small, there are low rocks, a walk from the car park, heavy pressure in August and a dual character — natural landscape and beach-club life.
Not just a beach club: coves, low rocks and public beach
Punta della Suina is a natural locality inside the park south of Gallipoli. Small sandy coves alternate with low rocks, pine woodland and Mediterranean scrub. Public stretches remain beside private facilities, and the coast continues south into the Punta Pizzo landscape.
Choose first
For the public beach, arrive early and check how much space is actually available in the coves; for umbrellas, food and organised services, check beach-club availability and booking.
Mixed seabed: sand and low rock
Water entry changes from point to point: the small coves are mainly sandy, while near the rocks there are low rock shelves and more uneven footing. The sea is especially photogenic on calm days and the rocky sections are also good for looking at the seabed.
Rock shoes help
Bring rock shoes if you expect to enter from the rocks. With children, choose a sandy entry and always check the actual waves and sea conditions.
Families: beautiful, but less straightforward than a long sandy beach
The sandy coves can work well with children, but they are small and fill quickly in high season. The final stretch is also on foot, so pushchairs, bags, toys and coolers make the arrival more demanding.
With small children
Go early, travel light and choose the sandy section. If maximum pushchair convenience and lots of gear are essential, other beaches are easier.
Young visitors, aperitifs and events are part of the picture too
The area is not only about nature. In 2026 Lido Punta della Suina still advertises events and parties, while G Beach offers a restaurant, cocktail bar and sunset aperitifs. Groups of friends can therefore combine sea, scenery and a livelier beach-club atmosphere.

Check each beach club’s official channels for the day’s programme, bookings and rules: the public area and the equipped sections can feel very different.
Parking is something to plan before you set off
Punta della Suina uses dedicated parking areas followed by a walk. At peak times the car parks closest to the access paths can fill very early; improvised roadside parking or stopping in natural areas is not a sensible alternative.
In August
Arriving before 9am can greatly reduce stress. We do not publish one fixed parking price because operators, areas and seasonal conditions may differ; check the signs when you arrive.
The last stretch is on foot through pine woodland and scrub
You cannot drive right up to your towel. From the parking areas you need to allow for a walk through the natural setting; the actual distance depends on where you park and which section of coast you want to reach.
Prepare for the walk
Comfortable shoes, little weight and water make the approach much easier. Save your car position on your phone before entering the paths.
Bars and food are available, mainly at the beach clubs
Organised beach clubs operate in the area. Lido Punta della Suina has bookings and publishes a summer 2026 price list; G Beach presents a restaurant, cocktail bar and aperitifs. On the public beach, however, do not assume everything will be only a few steps away.

Bring at least water and a snack. If you plan to use a beach club, check access, booking and current conditions first.
The coves are small and fill quickly in August
The reputation of Punta della Suina and the limited sandy space make a major difference. At weekends and in the central August weeks, arriving late can mean full car parks and very little free sand.
Best times
Early morning for space and softer light; late afternoon for sunset colours, while planning your return.
You are inside a regional natural park
The coastline lies within the Isola di Sant’Andrea and Punta Pizzo Coast Regional Natural Park, established in 2006. Pine woodland, Mediterranean scrub, wetlands and other coastal habitats are part of what makes the place valuable, not just a backdrop.
Respect the setting
Use existing paths and access points, protect the vegetation and never turn natural areas into improvised parking.
Accessibility: do not assume it is barrier-free
The route from the parking area, sand, natural paths and rocky sections make accessibility vary from point to point. We found no official certification allowing the whole of Punta della Suina to be described as fully accessible.

Contact the beach club you plan to use and ask specifically about reserved parking, route, walkways, toilets and bathing aids.
What to know in 2026: the natural locality and the beach clubs are different things
It is more useful today to understand Punta della Suina as a natural place with small coves and public stretches inside a regional park, where private beach facilities also operate. In 2026 Lido Punta della Suina publishes current seasonal pricing and booking information, while the Municipality continues specific work on the park mobility system.

Do not rely on prices or habits from previous years: check parking, access, bookings and services shortly before your visit.
Best for
A strong choice for natural scenery, clear water, photography, a slow beach day, couples and groups of friends who may want to stay for a sunset aperitif.
Main strength
The real attraction is the combination of sea, low rocks, pine woodland and sunset light rather than the amount of sand available.
Less suitable for
Less convenient if you want to park next to your towel, carry a lot of gear, find a huge free sandy area at midday in August or avoid rocky sections completely.
Consider an alternative
For maximum convenience or very small children, compare it with wider beaches and more direct access.
What to bring
Water, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes for the approach, rock shoes if entering from the rocks, a mask for looking at the seabed and as little heavy gear as possible.
Staying for sunset
Plan the walk back before it gets dark and bring a light layer for after your swim.
