Serra Cicora Beach in Porto Selvaggio park, Nardò, Apulia
Apulia · Salento · Nardò · Porto Selvaggio · Ionian coast

Serra Cicora Beach

A small free cove in the northern sector of Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano Regional Natural Park, between Torre Uluzzo and Torre Inserraglio. It is best enjoyed as a natural beach: mixed seabed, rocks and pebbles, clear water, snorkelling and very limited direct services.

Serra Cicora: what to know before arriving

The priority is to distinguish the real Serra Cicora cove from misplaced map points farther north and from the nearby private beach club. Here you will find cautious advice on access, seabed, parking, children and park protection.

Small free natural cove, not a serviced beach club

Serra Cicora is a small free stretch of Nardò’s coast inside the Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano park sector. Sand, pebbles and rock can mix along the shore.

Important

This guide covers the free cove; nearby Litos is a separate private beach club.

Map: beware of misplaced online points

Some maps place Serra Cicora too far north, near Frascone/Sant’Isidoro. The Salentissimo place is instead between Torre Uluzzo and Torre Inserraglio.

Pin used

Our map pin marks the free cove sector, not the nearby private beach club.

Natural access: final approach needs care

The cove is outside the settlement and the approach can include unpaved ground, rocks and small paths. Recent practical sources indicate parking a short walk away.

Practical tip

Stable footwear for the approach and rock shoes for swimming are a good choice.

Limited parking: arrive early and protect the park

Capacity is modest compared with an urban beach. On busy days small roadside spaces can fill quickly.

Rule

Park only where permitted; do not block vegetation, paths, emergency access or the road.

Mixed seabed: sand, pebbles and rock

The old guide described shallower water with small stones near shore and increasing depth shortly afterwards. Recent reports confirm a natural setting where seabed composition changes over short distances.

Practical tip

Rock shoes recommended; enter slowly and check the seabed.

Snorkelling and swimming: rewarding in calm conditions

Rocks, clear water and a rugged shoreline make Serra Cicora interesting for underwater viewing. The experience depends on wind, waves and visibility.

Safety

Do not enter if waves make exiting or footing on rocks difficult.

Families: better with confident young swimmers

This is a small natural cove without beach-club comforts. Pebbles, rocks and locally increasing depth make it less straightforward with toddlers.

With children

Choose calm sea, remain close to shore and bring everything you need.

Young visitors: nature, snorkelling, kayak and sunset

Good for young adults seeking a natural sea day rather than organised entertainment. The nearby private beach club offers its own services and events but is separate.

Strong point

Ideal for a simple active day: swim, mask, photos and park coastline.

Free beach with no reliable direct services

Do not count on a bar, showers or toilets on the free cove. Services at nearby private facilities are separate.

Bring

Water, light food, sun protection, towel and a rubbish bag.

Accessibility: natural ground, no verified barrier-free route

Unpaved surfaces, pebbles and rock can make access difficult for reduced mobility. We found no certification of an accessible route to the water here.

Consider

For specific needs, choose a verified equipped access point elsewhere on the Nardò coast.

Protected park: 2026 visitor-awareness service

From 15 June to 30 August 2026 Nardò municipality deployed volunteers to promote good visitor practices in sensitive Porto Selvaggio areas.

Respect the place

No rubbish, fires or vegetation damage; follow the bathing ordinance and park signs.

What to bring

Rock shoes, water, hat, sunscreen, mask and snorkel, towel and a bag to take rubbish away.

Essential

A few well-chosen items are best.

Where Serra Cicora Beach is

The pin marks the free Serra Cicora cove sector between Torre Uluzzo and Torre Inserraglio. We rejected an online map point that placed it farther north near Frascone/Sant’Isidoro. The pin does not identify nearby Litos.
