Lido Torre: what to know before you go
The name “Lido Torre” may sound like a beach club, but the old Salentissimo page describes this spot as a cove with a free public beach. This guide keeps that identity and connects it with the latest Municipality of Gallipoli information for the Rivabella coastline.
A sandy cove with a free public section
Lido Torre is the historic name used by Salentissimo for a Rivabella cove with a free public beach. It belongs to a wider coastline where sandy beach, equipped sections and coastal vegetation alternate.

This page is about the free beach: do not automatically attribute loungers, assistance or other services from nearby beach clubs to the cove.
Sea and mainly sandy seabed
The Rivabella coastline has a mainly sandy seabed that is generally shallow for the first few metres and then deepens gradually. The individual cove can still change after storms, with variations in the shoreline and amount of sand.
Before entering
Shallow water does not mean calm sea: check the day’s waves, wind and current.
Families and children
The old page described Lido Torre as popular with both families with children and groups of young people. Sand and proximity to the residential area make the day easy to organise, but high-season crowds can be substantial.
With children
Arriving in the morning helps you choose where to settle more calmly and avoid the most congested periods.
Access from the Rivabella residential area
Lido Torre lies within Rivabella’s tourist and residential area and is reached from local roads. Cross the beach-dune-scrub system only through existing access points and passages.
Respect the coast
Do not create shortcuts through vegetation and respect temporary fencing or restrictions.
Parking is harder at peak times
Being close to homes makes walking access easy, but in high summer it can be difficult to find parking near the beach. We do not have one public car park or fixed tariff that can be given as a stable reference for this cove.
Practical tip
Arrive early and use only permitted spaces, without blocking accesses, roadsides or private property.
Bars, food and beach establishments nearby
Rivabella is a tourist resort with beach businesses, bars, restaurants and accommodation. Services are therefore easier to find than at an isolated beach, but the free cove itself does not guarantee showers, toilets, loungers or assistance.

Scirocco: possible shelter, not guaranteed
The old page described the shape of the cove as often offering some shelter from the sirocco. This is a useful local observation, but not a rule: actual wind direction, waves and currents can completely change conditions.
Before choosing the cove
Look at the sea on site and do not rely only on the wind’s name or on how the coast behaved in the past.
Pines, scrub and a coastal system to respect
Rivabella’s shoreline is characterised by sand, pinewoods and Mediterranean vegetation. The Municipal Coastal Plan identifies fragility and erosion in the coastal system, so dunes and green areas are not spaces to occupy or cross freely.

Use existing passages and do not move sand, vegetation or natural material.
Since 2026: works on Rivabella’s free beaches
In June 2026 the Municipality of Gallipoli ordered works for the free beaches of Rivabella and Conchiglie covering waste collection, levelling, reshaping and management of washed-up plant biomass.

Accessibility depends on the chosen entry point
The area is urbanised, but we have not verified a specific public assisted route to the water for Lido Torre. Walkways, steps and sand conditions can vary between access points.
Reduced mobility
Check in advance which access is most suitable and what services are actually available in the chosen section.
Crowds: very busy in high summer
Proximity to homes and services makes the area convenient, but for the same reason July and August can be very busy, especially around midday.
For more space
Choose early morning or late afternoon and do not block access routes with parasols or equipment.
Who it suits
Families, couples and groups wanting a small sandy cove close to the residential area, with services within reach while still using a free public beach.
Main strength
Especially convenient if you are staying in Rivabella and want to reach the sea without a long journey.
Less suitable for
Anyone looking for an isolated, quiet and lightly used beach during the central summer weeks, or guaranteed parking a few metres from the sand.
If you want calm
Choose quieter times or compare other parts of the Gallipoli coastline.
What to bring
Parasol, sunscreen, water and beach games. On free sections it is best to be self-sufficient even though bars and other businesses are nearby.
In windy weather
Secure your parasol and light belongings and reconsider staying if the sea begins to build.
