A low rocky coast
Posto Rosso overlooks the Ionian Sea with a mainly low, accessible rocky coast.
Small free bays follow one another along the shoreline, while to the north the rocks become more irregular and are accompanied by Mediterranean scrub.
Baia dei Diavoli
Baia dei Diavoli is one of the two coastal places associated with the resort.
This area also retains the rocky character and small coves typical of the Alliste coast.
The name and the spring
According to the regional source, the name may refer to the reddish colour of the rocks or to a small red building once used by fishermen as a landmark.
The same source notes a freshwater spring that makes the sea cooler along part of the coast.
