Free, low and rocky coastline
The Puglia Region describes Capilungo as an entirely free coastline with low rocks, small inlets and coves. La Pilella belongs to this same coastal landscape.
Rock and natural pools rather than a serviced sandy beach.
A free stretch of Capilungo’s rocky Ionian coast, with small inlets, clear water on calm days and an official bathing-water area monitored by ARPA Puglia.
The old page captured the quiet character of the place, but the regional source clarifies one important point: Capilungo is mainly a continuous low rocky coast, not a true alternation of sandy beaches.

The seabed close to shore is largely rocky and can be uneven or slippery. On calm days the water suits swimming and snorkelling, but depth and access vary from point to point.
Rock shoes and a mask.
Low rocks can provide convenient entries in some spots, but this does not mean a uniform shallow seabed. Children need constant supervision and rough-sea bathing should be avoided.
Check the exact entry and never assume the water stays shallow.
We do not list a dedicated public car park exclusively for La Pilella. The area is reached from Capilungo’s coastal roads: use legal spaces only and check seasonal restrictions.
Arrive early to make parking easier.
On an exposed Ionian rocky coast, waves and backwash can make entries slippery and getting out of the water more difficult.
Always watch the sea, waves and your exit point.
La Pilella lies within Capilungo’s seafront and does not require a long nature trail. The final few metres may still be over uneven rock.
Stable shoes are better than flip-flops alone.
The Region calls Capilungo’s coast low and easy to access, but we found no certified wheelchair or reduced-mobility sea access specifically at La Pilella.
Check the exact descent before travelling.
Capilungo is inhabited and services are available around the locality, but La Pilella remains mainly free coast. Do not rely on showers, umbrellas or assistance at your chosen spot.
Water and everything you need for a few hours.
Rock shoes, water, sun protection, a hat, mask and snorkel. A thicker mat is more comfortable than a simple towel on the rocks.
Swimmers and snorkellers who prefer free rocky coastline.
