It is a ruined fortified building known as Torre delle Saline, connected with the historic salt-production complex of Salina dei Monaci.
It is different from Torre Colimena and the tower at San Pietro in Bevagna.
The ruins stand in the Salina dei Monaci area between Specchiarica and Torre Colimena, about 350 metres from the sea.

It was not part of the unified Aragonese coastal-tower system.
Only a few upright fragments remain of a structure that once had a square base and was built with tuff blocks.
