A wild, mainly rocky stretch of Baia delle Orte reached on foot, with clear water, good snorkelling potential in calm conditions and very few facilities directly on the coast.
The old description captured the wild character well, but two details should no longer be treated as fixed: the old €3 parking fee is not currently verified, and sea access is not simple in every condition.
Porto Grande is a small part of Baia delle Orte dominated by low rock, rocky shelves and small inlets. Regional sources describe the wider bay as wild and reached by paths.
You want sea, rock and nature rather than sand and beach-club comfort.
The last section follows paths and tracks. The Regional Park documents a coastal trail network linking Otranto, Baia delle Orte, the bauxite quarry and Cape Otranto.
Closed shoes or light walking shoes are better than flip-flops for the approach.

Choose another beach if you need a pushchair-friendly route, shallow sandy entry and nearby facilities.
Treat Porto Grande as a natural spot. We found no reliable confirmation of toilets, showers, rentals or staffed services directly at the access point.
Bring water, light food and everything you need, and take all rubbish away.
We found no dedicated step-free bathing access for Porto Grande. Natural tracks and rocky surfaces can be difficult for reduced mobility.
Use the accessible bathing points explicitly listed by the Municipality of Otranto.

Porto Grande lies within Baia delle Orte, south of central Otranto. The map points to the coastal area; the final approach is on foot and should follow existing paths and local signs.
