The key correction concerns access: an official short trail reaches the cliff above the cave, not its interior. Visiting the cavity itself is part of Castro’s coastal sea itinerary.
Grotta Palombara is a large sea cave south of Castro. Visit Castro describes it as about 75 m long, 18 m wide and 30 m high, with sea depth of about 10 m.
Treat it as a coastal and boating experience, not as a conventional beach day.

The cave can be interesting for children, but there is no beach, shallow water or land stopping area.
Ask about age suitability, life jackets, boarding and trip duration.
The trail ends above the cliff and the cave entrance is from the sea. Accessibility for visitors with reduced mobility therefore depends on the boarding point and vessel.
Contact the boat operator directly to confirm boarding assistance.
There is no parking at the cave entrance. For a boat trip, use legal parking in Castro and walk to the boarding point given by the operator.
Allow extra time for parking and walking to the harbour.
